GTX 280 Overclocking Problem

Thread Starter
I just built the rig in my sig, and I started OCing. Im a n00b at overcloking, but I did my best with the CPU and Memory.

The problem is I just cant oc my graphics card memory past 1680. Rivatuner and the Nvidia tool just wont let my go past that value!

What should I do ?
And BDW please give me some advice, I dont know if my OC is good.

Thats a decent OC.

As for the memory, thats already a high overclock and there is a reason that you cant push it farther. Because your card will not operate at those speeds. Nothing you can do about that.

As for stability, you can either download ATI tool or 3dvantage or 3dmark06 or something and see if it locks up or shows artifacts. Remember to keep your fan up and watch those temperatures though as those GTX 280's run with a 1.18 core voltage and can get pretty warm when OC'd.

Thanks SLI Maniac, I had some doubts about mt OC (voltages set to high, big memory latencies, and runing at 2x, to high PCIE overclock). Its true I dont really need to OC my GPU that High, but its frustrating that everybody can OC their memory to 2000+.
Why does Rivatuner and Nvidia stop at 1680 ? Whats the problem ?

When people tell you that they have there memory at 2000+ they are really talking about half that speed in rivatuner or precision. So 2400 actually is only around 1200 on those programs. when your at 1350 your actually at 2700 effective. 1680x2 is like 3360 if I did my math right.... and I dont think thats achievable as of yet with todays tech.

Hope that helps.
