Need Help flashing bios on ecs a780gm-a first build

Thread Starter
ok im having a little trouble, this is my first system build and i'm using a 5000 black edition processor and a ecs a780gm-a mobo. So I go to the website and download the new bios on my laptop and make a boot cd from all the files that were in the compressed folder and load it into my dvd drive and reboot my cpu. Ok now it goes through a bunch of stuff and brings me to a a:/> or so and i cant figure it out from there. Sorry for such a noob question, but any and all help would be much appreciated.

check your mobo manual ... it will tell you how.

and out of curiosity ... was the file a .iso?

generally bios files are downloaded as .iso and they automatically run.

Gebrony.... welcome to OCN!

You would also need to change the boot order in your BIOS so the DVD drive boots first.... an "A" prompt is waiting for the floppy drive.

i have changed the boot order to boot first from the dvd drive and it acts like it is going to boot something. The download is what is throwing me off though because its not an iso its about 6 different files just compressed into a zip file

The files still need to be burned as an iso image for it to work.... I assume that you don't have a floppy drive to use? Are you having problems with the current BIOS?

You're welcome.... otherwise, another option would be to flash with a USB stick. Let us know how it works out for you.... good luck!
