updating from vista 32 to 64

ok, so as the title states im upgrading from vista 32 to 64 bit, now will i have to format my raid drive or is there a way i can recover it without having to reformat the whole thing?
any help appreciated

No, you need to reformat. -64 bit OS's put programs in different locations, which has impact on registry settings.

Actually you don't have to reformat anything. Just install it side by side if you don't want to format.

I think you need to reformat because of the differents between 32 bit software and 64 bit software

32bit apps are moved into the "Program Files (x86)" folder.

I would reformat. I don't see a reason to keep both operating systems. I'm running Vista x64 and it runs all my 32bit programs and games just fine.

No real point in dual-booting vista x86 and vista x64, anything that will work on 32-bit vista will also work on 64-bit vista. Only reason to dual boot is when you need to use XP and vista for example.

And I would recommend a clean install anyway, its just... cleaner.
