i'm going to look in bios to see if i can find anything, this is currently in his PCI-E slot, i think this is some kind of adapter connected to his onboard gfx it has some wire connected into mobo, do you think this could be something to do with why the 3870 is not displaying?



type "asus hdmi card" into google images and its the 5th pic across, the yellow card. (link and pics not showing for some reason)

That thing hooked to his mobo is exactly why it isnt working. Yank it out and try the card, i bet it works then ;-)

lol this is taken out before i install the 3870, he only has one pci-e slot.

The HDMI drivers or something must still be active then for the new card to not work. On asus website they list PCI-e problems with that board and they have a bios flash and drivers to fix the problem. You might need to update mobo drivers and/or bios too.

Did you disable the onboard vieo in the bios yet? I didnt see that you mentioned doing it.

i can't find the vieo, i've found HDMI enable and i disabled that, i also found PNP VGA was disabled so i'll try that now, it's now enabled on vga pnp. i tell you what, its well hidden lol

if this doesnt work then i will update bios/drivers.
