SLI on 2 different type carts

Thread Starter
I have a SLI bridge between my XFX nvidia Geforce 9800GTX+ and build in motherboard nForce 750a SLI.
any chance my nForce card slows my GeForce card down??

there's quite a big difference between them and i dont have a "sli cable" between them...
and on other pages here they say overclocked cards get downlclocked to the speed of you worse card....

btw: it is possible to combine 2 different cards using sli this way
post #2 of 20
....what? How do you have an SLI bridge on a discrete card and integrated IGP inside your chipset?

Also, no... you cannot SLI them for performance. However, you can use Hybrid SLI to save power: http://www.nvidia.com/object/hybrid_sli_desktop.html

The onboard video should be in a disabled or inactive state when you plug in the 9800GTX+. Either way it won't affect the 9800GTX+ at all.

I think for SLI to work it has to have the same BIOS. You could use 2 different manufacturer, but they'd have to be 9800GTX+ and one BIOS flashed with the other. Not sure, but maybe someone who uses SLI can give a confirmation on this.

That video card + IGP does not provide SLI Boost for performance. It provides the ability to run SLI Hybrid. Your onboard video runs (and your discrete card turns off) when you are running 2D. If you start something 3D, the discrete card turns on and takes over. Please read the link I provided above.

first of all, please start your own thread for this problem; hijacking is not cool

Second, if you have a 9800 GTX you are not using onboard graphics. which is it?

sorry it was related and he said that the problem was solved.

anyway i have a 9800 gtx+ but no video is getting sent through it(so im forced to use onboard for now)... that is what my problem is... and trust me i have gone through all kinds of tests,
i was just wondering what his stats were because biostar says that there is some kind of compatibility issue with the two even though in an email they said that the 9800gtx+ was compatible with the 750a
