I would suggest you take it back. Say it didn't work properly, which it didn't, in your case.

Rep+ for the input.
There is also an 8500GT for PCI available from Sparkle.
But I don't know if it works with f@h.

The Radeon HD2400PRO PCI works with f@h, but it does only like 100-150 PPD.
I was able to play around a little with this one.
Still an interesting idea for very low energy System.
[I'm now looking for the nVidia Atom Chipest to might build a solar powered f@h rig^^]

In non-f@h Tests the PCI Slot is a huge bottleneck.
I got around 1300 Points in 3D Mark03, which is lot lower than than the PCI-E HD2400PRO does.
Vista with AERO active feels really slow.
But for an old PIII System with Win XP it is a good choice.
Especially as these Cards help to playback Video with latest Codecs...

I feel English is my second language, I speak American, but I think this is the correct way to make your point.

this should have limited to no effect on F@H.

It cannot do either. The 7-series do not have stream processors needed for Folding and PhysX.
Once again...
