8400GS pci and F@H testing. "Successful 400pdd@stock" - Page 4

BTW: You can't use those Cards with very old PCs!

I was about to give the Radeon HD2400Pro PCI as gift to my nephews.
They run a PIII 600EB.
The BIOS always sets the Chip itself and the PCI - PCI bridge (PCI -> PCI Express on the hardware site) to the same IRQ.
Modern Boards can handle it, but this one couldn't.
After all the GPU isn'tz recognized correct and you have 16 colored 640x480 in Windows.
I also tried it on another PIII System with the same result.

You have to change the Auto setting on the pci irq allocation bus and set the irq you want for the card to legacy (or reserved, isa). The settings seems to vary bios to bios but it can be done once you know what your looking for.

I set it to isa only.
But than both elements got another IRQ (7 before, 10 after).
When also disabling this one, the GPU didn't got an IRQ anymore...

The Bridge and the GPU always got the same one.
What is especially strange, as the HDMI Audio Chip in the GPU had another one...

You should be able to use 7 unless your using your parallel port and I in the past have seen vid cards that go for 10 only, what I do is set up the rest of the system leaving 10 open and then install the card. Alot of system will let you choose to not give an irq to the vid card. Try that also, Some will work that way (and faster as they don't have to wait for the cpu to give them the ok to continue) and others won't. It's a trail and error thing.
edit, the bridge is only showing what irq it's devices have. the bridge does not a irq and therefore will not conflict with a card on it.
