Want to change my sound card. Which should i buy?

Thread Starter
hello people!; i have an Audigy SE card modded to a X-FI extreme audio, via the daniel_k drivers, and i wnat to change it.

I will use it primarily for games and movies and some electronic music. My speakers are the Edifier C2.

I can buy this cards:

X-FI XtremeGamer Pro Fatal1ty USED for 130 Dollars
X-Fi XtremeMusic NEW OEM for 135 dollars
Asus Xonar DX NEW BOX for 145 dollars

Which should i buy????

Remember that i live in argentina, so the prices are expensive, and those are my unique options!

Xonar DX gets my vote. The others have limited support and cruddy drivers.

I would go with the Xonar too.

Lol that xtrememusic is expensive... i sold mine a couple weeks back for 60 bucks shipped to cali (from pa)...

From the list, go for the Xonar.

I personally went for the auzentech Prelude, bought it like new used from a forum, for 140 shipped. Go and check out head-fi.org to see if there are any being sold.

Other than that your set!

good review of the dx (or the d1 really - i prefer the d1 as it doesn't require the 4-pin floppy connector and i've got pci slots far away from my vid card and my 1x pci-e is too close to it): http://www.overclockersclub.com/revi...onar_d1/10.htm

that's the conclusion page, the previous three pages are good info as well. Note that his xtrememusic has been modded w/ good parts - the x-fi cards are shipped with crappy components - so it's not a 1:1 comparison, which is why his modded xtrememusic wins.
