What's next on Q9650

Currently stable at 450x9 on Rampage Extreme with Corsair 1800 8-8-8-24-1T Kandalf LCS case 750W PS
Vcore 1.29 Vmem 1.9 nb 1.51 Vtt 1.28 GTL -40 NB+70 333 strap

Thought I'd try to get to 466x9 - memtest86 ran for 4 hours - no problems with ram - Run OCCT CPU test and system reboot instantly. Kept raising VCore up to 1.36 - same result. Tried playing with CPU and NB skew from 100 through 500 and combinations -same result or worse - no boot at all.

back to 450x9 - all is well

I've heard that going over 1.36 with Q9650 is not wise.

I've seen others getting 467x9 but I can't seem to get there.

What am I missing or is it just possible that my specific chip won't do 466x9?

it may be a hole in the fsb try going bigger i was suck at 4.3 for a long time till i got the crazy idea to try 4.5 and it boots right up... just a thought

It's not an nvidia chipset so FSB holes don't apply.

The X48 chipset has trouble getting past 450FSB with a quad. You can try retuning the NB GTL reference.

OK, I'll play with that. Currently at +70mv - What do you think a valid & safe range would be for the NBN GTL?

I'm thinking this way - current VCore is 1.29 NB GTL is 70

Since I've tried increasing VCore all the way to 1.36 with no luck, drop VCore back to 1.3 and start increasing NB GTL. If no luck, increase VCore again and repeat NB GTL. Does this make sense?

For whatever voltage you're at there's a range of GTL reference voltages that will boot, but only a narrower range of those which will be stable. So you'll want to go back up and down with it until you find the range that works, and set it to about the center of that range.
