Finally went SLI

Thread Starter
My second 8800gts 512 came yesterday and after some messing around I got the setup to work. At first I was getting horrible flickering in full screen apps like 3dmark06 and the Crysis demo. After trying a few different drivers, I swapped the position of the cards and everything was good. At stock speeds I gained ~1000 3dmarks in 3dmark06 and just almost 3000 3dmarks in vantage. With an overclock to 770 core, 2000 shader, and 1070 mem, I scored over 11000 3dmarks in vantage, and gained an additional 200 in 3dmark06. That overclock held strong for benchmarks but I immediately began running into issues running games at 1680x1050. I was getting great frames but I had crashes after a matter of minutes. I've backed down to 700/1900/1000 and everything seems to be steadier with only a 4-5fps loss in crysis at all high settings with no AA. Looks like a volt mod is in store for both cards to see if I can get those clocks steady at higher resolutions. Over all I give a to SLI! (Now if only GTA4 would support it...)

Well it seems that I'm getting lock ups even at stock speeds now. I talked to EVGA and we figured it may be the card because of the flickering I was getting when it was in the bottom slot. So they are gonna do a RMA and send me another one. I'm not really mad though. When you buy re-certified cards, you gotta expect that you may get a bad one

Sorry, but I don't think that card supports quad SLi. 2-way SLi, yes.

That card performs horribly in games just to let you know. Performance worse than an 8800GTS.

Which would get you about the same FPS as an 8800GT.

But yeah welcome to SLI.

I have had SLI 8800GTX's, SLI 9800GTX's, SLI GTX280's and now im on one GTX280

These cards have always baffled me..... what can this render that a GTX280 cant...??

ppl keep saying ''these are used for CAD'' yet most of that is 2D..??
its the same as the ''telsa'' there ''appears'' to be NOTHING on this card that warrants £5000+

please someone enlighten me, do they use more expensive metals.??
