Cleaning a pump

Thread Starter
I recently purchased a D5 and when I took it apart, there was a fair amount of grayish residue inside it. Any ideas how to clean a pump. I already assume dropping it into vinegar is a no go...

Just use water and some cloth and clean it out the best you can. If you use q-tips just make sure no left over cotton is left behind, you should be good after that!!

Is it an actual residue or just the plastic being dry?

Use some 10% white vinegar and 90% distilled, its not going to hurt it as long as you don't leave it on for a long time and rinse it well. If its some kind of living crud it will kill it.
