Prelude Crackling - Page 2

I had one bad occurrence with Vista and an X-fi card (Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Pro Fatal1ty) where when I installed the card, there was nothing but loud static coming from the speakers. Restarted the computer, and it was gone (forever).

Other than that, never had problems with the Xtreme Gamer or my current X-Fi Prelude (no crackling)

Hmm, Well i think i figured out why I am getting crackling whenever I am using my computer it crackles which means my motherboard doesn't have enough QPI. Or something like that (Ex, Whenever i scroll up and down a page in Firefox it crackles if i just let it sit it doesn't crackle) :/
This only happens if the card is using the PCI slot below the video card. If I move it to the last PCI slot if crackles randomly Bleh..

EDIT: Werid, It doesn't happen if i have a trailer playing but it happens when im scrolling :S??

It may pass, sometimes it does. On the other hand there's a known issue of the X-Fi drivers for Vista that the cards crackle, I would suggest a decent driver, like this one: http://www.youp-pax.org/viewthread.p...extra=page%3D1

Hope it works.

I'll give these a try later on today or tomorrow. But I found a way to reduce the crackling a bit turn on disable directsound in realplayer barely hear the crackling anymore. I'll still try these drivers and report which is better
