altec buy the parts and build it yourself, its really easy! i learnt how to build my own by taking my old pc apart myself, then building it back together, really easy!

the parts like the memory which are "major brand" just doesnt sound too good, you might aswell buy yourself cos its cheaper and the parts will actually be of a decent brad name.

GSingh's list above looks very good. The only thing I would substitute is the power supply, with this Corsair TX 650W from Buy.com. Corsair makes extremely reliable and quality PSU's, and Buy.com usually has low prices on them.

Also, you may have to cut back on something (like holding off on the aftermarket CPU cooling, for example) if you need the cash to buy an Operating System. I would recommend Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit. The OEM/system builder version is quite a bit cheaper, but only good for 1 system (it's basically tied to a single motherboard). You can get the Retail version if you'll be needing it for future builds.

Go with Xigmatek S1283 cooler instead. Its better, cheaper, and lighter.

Good call.

You may want to get the backplate/retention bracket for it, as well. It's cheap and can help stabilize the cooler to the board.
