Little confused with Asus Bios...

Thread Starter
So I'm Oc'ing a q6600 on an Asus p5q and I'm not too familiar with Asus's bios settings. I've got the chip now running at 350x9 at 1.35. The temps are great and all but it's the memory that's confusing me. I've got 2x2gb of OCZ Plat. DDR2 800mhz. It's automatically overclocking the memory and I don't know how to set the memory divider. I'm not familiar with FSB straps so I was wondering if someone could explain what it means to me?

First leave the strap on auto for now. Set your DRAM manually to 1:1 or 350 for now. Then you can get your CPU overclock stable first. Then you can start your RAM if you wish.

Edit: You might want to read this article about straps. This is about the Rampage Formula, but the strap discussion is relevant.

That's what I was trying to do but I didn't know how to manually set the ram speed. I thought I could only select the pre selected speeds from the list. Now that I think about it I just needed to type the speed in duh! Went ahead and bumped up to 400x8 to run 1:1 with the ram and am going to run prime 95. About what vcore do you think I'll need to run 400x8 Stable? I have it at 1.3625 now?

Those pre selected speeds will change the higher the FSB goes. If you set your FSB to 400 go to the DRAM freq and manually set it to 400 also. Try the vcore at 1.4 and if it works there you may be able to bump it down. If not you may have to go a little higher. Every CPU is different so you'll have to try it.
