Intel Q6600 wont go above 2.6Ghz. Asus P5QL-Pro motherboard.

Hi, ive bought a Q6600 in combination with a PQ5L-Pro motherboard (asus) and i've tried to overclock a bit.

Its stable on 2,6Ghz, but when i go above 2.6Ghz, lets say 2.7Ghz programs start to give errors and need to be shut. So its not stable. Allso prime95 give a error verry fast. Ive tried raising the Vcore to 1.3, even tried to 1.4 but thats not helping.

What do i need to change in order to get around 3.0Ghz Stable? Im quite new to overclock so please try to explain it simple.

Info & specs:

Asus PQ5L-Pro
Q6600 @ 2.6 Ghz (FSB 290 Multiplier 7.0)
5 Gb ram ( 3 x 1Gb, 1 x 2GB. I know that 2 x 1GB Is DDRII 800, i belive the other 1 GB and the 2GB is DDRII 553 Mhz)
Vcore: 1.3000 (standard 1.2800)
Stock cooler.
Temps: 25-34 load.

Voltage of the rest of the motherboard like Nbrige, Sbridge are all standard. Allso the voltage of the Ram is Standard (auto)

Sorry for any bad grammar but English grammar isnt my strongest point.

Thanks allot!, Tom.

Some tips:
1) Using mixed ram is going to screw you over big time... work with ONLY 2x1GB of matched DDR2 800 for now
2) Up your voltages: 1.45v CPU, 1.45v NB, 1.4 on VTT or FSB
3) Make sure to keep your RAM @ 700MHz or so using dividers (this will factor them out of the equation while looking for your CPU's maximum OC)

Good luck and send me a PM if you need further help

Ive removed the two ram Sticks. One is DDR II 667 And the other one DDR II 553. Ive puted Vcore on 1.45 and Northbridge on 1.45. I dont know what those others mean but the FSB is on 310 and the pc booted.
Im having no issiues of errors now im going to run 3dmark06 now.

What killa concept said and the p5ql pro supports ddr2 667 at a minimum, so even at default frequency your ddr2 533 is already overclocked. You should ditch your ddr2 533 sticks.

Oups, seems like I was late.

7x multiplier? Turn Speedstep off in your BIOS. Your Q6600 should be running at 9x multiplier, and Speedstep tunes it down to 6x.

Ok, the problem is most likey your ram. Take out the DDR2-533, because that is the problem. You are forcing them to run at 290x2=580Mhz, and they probably aren't getting enough voltage. Just keep the DDR2-800, and you shouldn't have the slightest problem overclocking.

Nevermind(I got beat).

Yeah I just used an ASUS P5QC with the Q6600 and was freaking impressed. U need 800mhz ram minimum, then u should be able to easily put fsb at 400, multi times 9. CPU voltage at 1.49, fsb term 1.45 and run stable at 3.6ghz. If not run back a bit but my q6600 ran smooth right there.
