i dont get why people were so enthusiastic about Spore and LBP in the first place... everyone should have know something that looks so horrible, almost as if modelled by a 3-year-old, COULDNT have been a game even worth giving a rats ass about.

The Wii might not have very many awesome titles, but it's pretty much the only console I can get my entire family to play for hours. The Wii sports is just awesome for family/party fun. The same goes for guitar hero. Also have you played Metroid? I think it's an awesome picture of things to come. Aiming, pushing, pulling things, and just overall fun. A lot more VR type of stuff is going to be invented because of the Wii's success.

Farcry2... talk about a three year old designing an engine bay on a vehicle and running around in a 3 foot circle over and over over and over and over and over and over... You get the point.
AoC...
Warhammer...

Can Darkfall save us hehe?

I think Nintendo are up there because they dont make games for real gamers, they make games for children, old people, and families.

Half the games they have released this year are complete crap, everyone I know who had a wii said the best game was the wii sports you got free with the console.

EDIT: FarCry 2 should definatly be #1.

LBP is actually a fun game, I'm surprised it made the list. It got a 95 on Metacritic.

haze needs a mention in there.

but i dont think HOME deserves to be. its still in an open beta stage. how can anyone consider it a disappointment when its not an official finished product yet?

Also, littlebigplanet? one of this years most heart-rending gaming disappointments? what the hell? despite what anyone thinks LBP is one of the most original games to come out in recent years. Its a blast! it got an award at the VGAs and came runner up in about 3 other categorys.

And the author of the article says the phrase "but, this is sony" about 10 times. Disgracefully biased article. A couple of games do deserve the mention but thats only common sense. blatantly an xbot writing this article. hate for nintendo and sony all over the show.

I'm not disappointed at all!

I expect everything to be crap, so in the rare cases it's not, I'm pleasantly surprised.

See you say that but you have no idea about the marketing of the Wii, clearly.

The Wii was never intended to be a hardcore gaming console like the PS3 or the 360. It was designed for everyone to be able to play it, and that is the reason the Wii is the number 1 console at the moment. Every kid wants one, a lot of older people want them AND they have them in old people nursing homes. You wont find a PS3 or a 360 in the same places. The Wii is simple to use and is definatly fun for lots of people.

I went to my friends house who has one, bearing in mind he is 32 and I am 21. His nan and mum came round with me, my gf and his gf. We were on the Wii all night playing Mario Kart, Bowling, Star Wars etc.

Now, think of it like this...his Nan is 82 and his mum is 59. Your not going to get a 82 and 59 year old down a bowling alley but they were enjoying themselves on the Wii and his nan got 230points on bowling....

Anyway, there is no chance you would get people that age playing on a PS3 because it is far to complex for them and the games simply don't interest them. The Wii takes real life actions and puts them into play in a virtual environment.

Everyone knows how to bowl or play tennis but they cant do it very well in real life. They know they have to move there arm to hit the ball and the Wii lets them do exactally that. Unlike the PS3/360 where you have to run about with an analogue stick, hit x to tap the ball, square to smash it, R1 to dive etc etc.

Get the picture?

They didn't say the game was disappointing, they even mentioned that it was a wonderful game that everyone should own. They said that it's reception was a disappointment. In that more people should be buying and playing it. Well judging by these quotes at least:

Quote:
"LittleBigPlanet: This is a great game that everyone should buy"
"Now the game is out, it's stable, and it's absolutely wonderful. The trouble is, no one seems to care."
Spore on the other hand; you are completely right there. I've been telling people it would turn out this way for at least a year. Well mentioning that it's my feeling but telling them I hope it turns out good for them. I could just never see a solid gameplay aspect, and innovation is nothing without this.

I totally agree with Home. As bad as it seems that it will turn out, it's still not out and can't really be judged as such. At least let the developers release the game before calling it one of the greatest disappointments of the year

As for the LittleBigPlanet comment; see above
That said, when they say "Then, of course, since this is Sony, there were server problems." I'm not sure exactly what they mean. I thought Media Molecule was hosting the servers, not Sony. Am I wrong?

Man, LittleBigPlanet is awesome. Everyone who has any part in making videogames should really take note.
