If you don't have a small paint sprayer then you can do a pretty good job with just a airbrush but it takes a while. You can get little cans of rustoleum paint at walmart or at hardware store and it will look good though it will take on very slightly foggy appearance when it's done. I like the end result but you can color sand and hand buff it out if you wish. It beats runs and hassles that you get from spray cans, and small compressors and airbrushes can be had for 50 to 100 bucks. If you paint plastic parts on computer cases the types of plastics they use won't work with spray cans or "plastic paints". You don't even have to sand it to get regular enamel paint to stick well with an airbrush, It won't be hugely chip resistant but wont flake. You can use very very fine grade steel wool to rough it but it had better be very fine because airbrush doesn't lay paint on thick. Just in case anyone reading this had cases with plastic front pieces or plastic fan inserts. I ruined an older case finding all this out. Oh be sure to thin the paint about 1/4 to 1/3 with mineral spirits.

yep spray paint is all you need.

IMO its no need to remove rivets and completely take the case apart. Just deassemble the plastics, grilles, sideplates, drive-cages and fans and youre set to go. And whether its necessary to sand it before you paint is up to you. I didnt and the paint sticks fine. The surface is corse enough as it is. The most important thing is to clean it thorough with paint-thinner or acetone and let it vaporize before you start.

But if you want mirror finish on your case everywhere go ahead and sand everything with 1200grit between each layer. That takes time.

Use Krylon or I like Duplicoat Satin Automotive paint at Advance Auto. Buy 2 cans of primer and 3 cans of Paint. you MIGHT be able to take back the 3 can.

wait till next day.

Paint 5 coats of satin black at 20 min intervals.

Let dry for 48 hours...........Ohhhhh the wait.

Thats all.
So Automotive paint is the best?
