Dang, that sucks. Sorry to hear that, especially for a first time build. I know how excited the first time I did my first build, luckily it went well. Good luck with it.

Oh crap, make sure you're using the motherboard standoffs when attaching the board to the case. Otherwise you'd be shorting the board every time you power on, which could cause that to happen!

Fortunately and unfortunately I used the little metal risers that go under the mobo so I don't think that's the problem =/

do you have any other socket 775 cpu coolers?, because most new motherboards automaticly switch of when your fan speed is under an amount or if theres no cooler active. you should bring it back to newegg otherwise try antother cpu cooling.

It looks to me like yor board is shorting. When your fans and lights kick on for a split second that is usually the problem. The good news is that your board and hardware is probably fine. Unhook everything and take everything out of the case and make sure there is nothing under the board that can be causing this.
I had a screw under a board once that was making it short just like that.

If it was a bad board you would get nothing at all, and if it was your fan then it would take longer to auto shutdown. Besides, the fan starts to move so I don't think that's it.

The more I look at that video the more positive I am that your board is shorting on something.

By the way, are you sure you are using standoffs? I cant tell from the pic and it kinda looks like you aren't.
