Anyone had any trouble getting their remote to work on the platinum or fatality? I installed the audio driver and the console launcher from the website, but the remote doesn't seem to be doing anything. I imagine I'm missing another piece of software or a check box somewhere. Any ideas?

Well, I went through installing the driver on the CD then installing the latest driver. The remote for the Platinum works for me. I just push power and wait for it to boot up. Then, I sit back and search for my music then play them.

Just a question, the Ad_EXT cable that connects the card to the front bay right? And how large is the front bay? Where would I put it, in a CD rom slot of the floppy slot?

Anybody got an advise as to which one I should get?

Money isn't REALLY an object, but I don't want to overpay.

I game, and I like music/movies. But I'm not an audiophile. Onboard audio ain't cutting it.

Should I just go for the Audigy Platinum or the Platinum eX? And spend more money on headphones?

You can go with the X-Fi Platinum. If money isn't much of an object, you can really go for the Fatal1ty. The difference is that the Fatal1ty has X-Ram which doesn't make much of a difference while gaming. Other then that, they're both the same card with the same I/O from panel and remote.

Audigys aren't bad cards but compared to the X-Fi, it's not preferred anymore. Hooked up my headphones to my friend's Audigy2 and tweaked with the settings a bit. Even after that, I still preferred my X-Fi over his 2-3 year old Audigy2. Only thing I see from the Audigy is the firewire port (if you don't already have one). If you REALLY need firewire but don't have much PCI slots, Audigy is the way to go.

Finally got my Fatal1ty in. I didn't here too much difference between my Audigy and the onboard SoundMax HD, but the difference between the X-Fi and the Audigy is night and day!

I was worried because it cost me an extra $15 for currency conversion, $40 for shipping, and $11 for customs. Totally worth it!

My only gripe is the ribbon cable. My wire management skills are pretty good and its not that obtrusive but it takes up a lot of room!

You should try the open source Linux drivers. They sound pretty good too.
