1. They have not hit 10 GHz.
2. The 3.9 GHz Phenom II is enough to beat out the performance of a record P4 at about 8 GHz. ( http://www.nordichardware.com/news,5505.html
) There are other records but I cannot find a suitable source for anything over 8 GHz, and I know for a fact anything over 8.5 didn't happen.
3. The claim has a minute amount of credibility but it's there, they we're talking about Nehalem, not Netburst. Record for i7 965 is about 5.51 GHz iirc. The performance differences escape me, but seeing as how Phenom II and i7 are so neck-and-neck clock-for-clock wise, I'd say the 6+ GHz Phenom II wins.
