Sometimes scissors aren't readily available. I picked up an extra CF card on the way to a photo job and luckily it was clamshell. Seeing two people try to wrestle one of those open in a hurry with only car keys and bare hands is like watching some twisted outtake from a Saw movie.

What I dont get is that I've ordered a pack of SONY rechargeable batteries that came in clamshell packaging, but had a small tab on the back you broke off. Then separating the front and the back was simple, all and all it literally took me 5 seconds and like 5 pounds of force.

I was so flabbergasted at the simplicity that I went around town showing people. I decided to stop when the cops came.

Yeah these things are a pain in the butt. I have to whip out some scissors and cut the packaging open, and once you do that, forget about taking it back for a refund or exchange.

That might be why they made it so difficult, sounds like a fun conspiracy theory.

THis is good for most people, I remember in my childhood, I'd spend the car ride back home opening one of these with my hands, it was half the fun. Maybe I'm just twisted, but I think the death packaging is fun to saw through

I almost struck a vein once. It was just left on the wrist to it. I got very luck as it had become a VERY sharp point and could have sent me to the hospital. No joke guys.

Actually I prefer these little plastic enclosures. They're a bit more rugged than cartboard + foam. Unless you buy the cheapest ones they're easy to open and close and totally MUCH better than any other packaging method I've seen for small devices.
