Help with Koolance Temp Probe

Thread Starter
I have an inline temp probe from koolance (my system is all koolance on 3/8") and when plugging the temp sensor into my scythe fan / temp 5 1/4 bay - nothing comes up.
Switch the cable the other way (pin 1 to 2 and vv). Still the same.
Bad probe?
Wrong thermometer on the Scythe?
Any help appreciated.

Is this the temperature sensor you are using?
http://www.koolance.com/water-coolin...product_id=738

If you look at the pdf manual it lists resistances you should be seeing at different temperatures. I would suggest testing it to be sure that the values are at least close to correct. If that tests good, I'd suggest testing the output voltage from the scythe controller.

It is also possible that the led display of the controller is not working? Have you verified the display?

I never thought of checking the resistance of the sensor with a multimeter
That's why we ask for help. I know the Scythe bay is working because I put their sensor on it and it reads actively.
I'll check the resistance and let you know what happens. Thanks.

It is also possible that their sensor has a different operating voltage range than the Koolance one. If the Koolance sensor has a much higher resistance than the scythe temp probes then could not that cause issues?

Thanks. I;ll try that too. I just have to get through Sunday.
Then I'll do some more work on it.

You know - I hear that from time to time (about Koolance being bad) and I'm not convinced - this probe not withstanding. But I've had two of their full coverage blocks (8800gt-new & 4870) and both are built well. The CPU-340 kept my x2 5000 and now my intel cool. I really like their fittings (I use the compression ones)
I think people didn't like their older, plastic blocks - but that's just a guess. They are a little more idiot proof than some others, which is good for me.

I guess the moral of the story is use what you want to, eh?

Have you gotten any farther troubleshooting that temp probe?
