P5Q + E6600 Overclocking

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,

What I'm looking to do is build the highest powered most stable 64bit system I can with my hardware. I would appreciate any help you can give with this. Suggestions on bios configurations.

My current hardware setup is as follows

CPU: E6600 @ 2500 MHz (9 x 278)
Motherboard: P5Q
Bios:1004
Graphics Card: ATI 1600 512MB Pro
Memory: OCZ 8GB PC2-8500 Reaper HPC
Hard Drive:RAID 0 2x500GB Seagate Barracudas
Optical Drive: LG Super Multi Security DVD Writer 22x
Power Supply: OCZ 600Watt Gamer Power Supply
Case:Antec 900 Gamer Case
Operating System: Vista Ultimate 64Bit

The problems I'm running into are I'm unable to get the FSB above 278 and still post. My ram is 1066 but i cant get it to run faster then 5-5-5-15 @ 400

Any suggestions or information you can provide I'm all for learning.

My goal to to be stable at at least 2.8 if not 3.0.

Thanks

Dustin Lafleur

You should be able to get there easily.

333 fsb with the 9 multi. 1.325-1.35 volts.

Your ram might not be getting enough volts. See what it is rated for and make sure it is at that setting. You can add a little to that as well.

Good luck. The best way to learn is to just tweak, tweak, tweak.

CPU voltage 1.425? That's pretty high if he has a stock cooler.

It's too high for a stock cooler, so never mind.

Hey guys,

I successfully got my system into the 3.0GHz range using the information from Redsox. fabulous help thanks.

Also just a note For a cpu cooling i have arctic 5 cement with a Gigabyte Gforce cooler capable of 2900+rmp at max speed.

So if you feel that there is the ability to go faster stabling that would be worth exploring. My primary use for the speed increase is Rendering not gaming though I do game my decision to boost in this fashion is to see how Adobe CS3/4 runs with it.

As for my ram here is some information taken from CPUz and Everist

Dram Frequency - 417.4MHz
FSBRAM - 4:5
CL - 5.0
tRCD - 5.0
tRP - 5.0
tRAS - 15
CR - 2T

Also for gurusan here is what I can remember off the top of my head

AI Overclock tuner: Manual
CPU Ratio Setting: Auto
FSB Strap to North Bridge: Auto
FSB Frequency: 333
PCI-E Frequency: 100
DRAM Frequency: Auto
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A1: AUTO
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A2: AUTO
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B1: AUTO
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B2: AUTO
DRAM Timing Control: Auto

CPU Voltage: 1.30
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2): AUTO
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3): AUTO
CPU PLL Voltage: Auto
FSB Termination Voltage: Auto
DRAM Voltage: 2.30
NB Voltage: Auto
NB GTL Reference: Auto
SBridge Voltage: AUTO
PCIE SATA Voltage: AUTO

Load Line Calibration: Enabled
CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled
PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled
CPU Clock Skew : Delay 100ps
NB Clock Skew : Auto
CPU Margin Enhancement: OPTIMIZED

Let me know if you need anything else i can always log into on another machine and reference this site while in the bios.

Thanks

Dustin

Your memory voltage is too high (board overvolts by about .6-.8v)....try the settings below. they should get your further....just keep raising the FSB and monitoring temperatures under load.
