Wierd and wonderfull things with Q9550 - Page 2

Well theres a good chance your chip will do 4ghz under 1.4V....I would be able to help you more but unfortunately I'm not experienced at all with nvidia chipsets.

also I didn't mean to be insulting in case you took it the wrong way

Finally got it stablised after trying a few different things about the place, got it at 3.71GHz @ 1.36250 vcore (CPU-z is saying 1.408 tho?), set the mem timings to 7,7,7,24,31 - 1T and its running really nice now, still a bit of room left till its maxxed out, one thing is for sure I need to get some 1600 sticks instead of the 1333 I've got.

What should I look at next? hooked now, it was scary & frustrating at first but now I need more!

What are your temps @ now, those temps in your OP are HIGH, you might want to pull your Heatsink and double check it, something just doesn't sound right...

Temps are around 37-42'C idle (depending how long its been on / room temp) upto between 68 - 72'C stressed in Prime 95 tho daily gaming stress never gets above 57-63 even after hours of play.

The real temp concern is the graphics cards, 47 idle to anything between 70 - 80+'c so getting another 120mm fan for the side of the antec 1200

might help if you flash the bios - could be that your ram isnt fully supported.

May not be but from what I've read on the internet theres only a few degrees between it and a TRUE (for eg). I am looking into a new heatsink though.

Before you asked I checked and it was at 1.5V which is under the 1.6V rating *PDF warning* reset it to 1.6 now, must've gone down on the last BIOS reset :s
