Intel E7300 Overclocking help

Thread Starter
I just got my new processor which is a Intel 7300 2.66GHZ..

Motherboard: ASUS P5QL PRO
RAM: 4GB DDR2 800 (PC6400)

I haven't overclocked that much ;x but i did some stuff in Bios..
rasied the Bus Speed to 300 mhz from 266 which is the default..

so now i have 3.0ghz
Core Voltage in CPU-Z is 1.192V
Core Voltage in Core Temp is 1.2250V

Memory DRAM Frequency in CPU-Z: 400.0MHZ 3:4
5.0-5-5-18

Running Orthos for over 20 minutes all good..

Temperatures:

SpeedFan:

System: 42C
CPU: 66C
Core 0: 66C
Core 1: 63C
AUS: 17C
HD0: 36C

Core Temp:

Core 0: 65C
Core 1: 62C

is 70C temperature below good ? or its too hot and dangerous ;x
and is my vcore ok? i set it to automatic in bios i think when i changed the BUS Speed.

I did some research which temperature is good.. some said 75C below is fine, some said 60C Above is bad.. so im a bit confused on that part.. Also should i manually set vcore?

Suggestions? Opinions? thanks so much for reading.. should i go for 3.2ghz?

I'd recommend using Prime 95 instead, from what I can gather its a better program for stress testing

I think the temperatures are too much for 3.00GHz.

But for 45nm processors, you should use RealTemp.

You should get lesser temperatures for the cores. Use it to read temperatures and then post them here.

I think its because of i am using stock fan :/ should i go undo the clock?

Real Temp 2.70 says:

Core Temperature
61 58

Distane to TJ Max:

Those are the temps during running ORTHOS or Prime95 right?

Also, see if the stock fan is running at full speed.

ORTHOS.. I'm not really sure if the fan is running at max speed o.o

in SpeedFan 4.34 it says CPU0FAN: 2900RPM

Almost 1 hour in orthos all passed

Stock cooling should be fine for that overclock, however you may want to use a different TIM, those temps seem much higher than they should be. Also use Realtemp for a more accurate measure. What's the rated timing on the memory.

I still think he is having high temperatures.

With a E7*** processor at 3.16GHz, I had maximum 55c and 56c.

Those temps arent good at all I keep mine below 60C. I crank the heat in my room around 65F and my e7200 at 3.4Ghz idels at 27C and loads at 41C. At 4Ghz it will load around 55C, so you need a better cooler, it seems like you only have a stock cooler.
