Xfx 9800 gtx+ ?

Thread Starter
Hey Guys,

as you can see in my signature..

my GPU is pretty much crap..
it can play Crysis on medium tho xD..
guess it is the fastest 8600GT version there is..

anyway let's get to the main point shall we ^^

I live in The Netherlands, and there are several distrubutors here that sell alot of GPU's..

So I've decided to go for Nvidia again.

And I've found this Cheap "XFX 9800GTX+ 512MB card"
http://www.azerty.nl/0-971-89079/xfx...---grafis.html
It's pretty cheap.. JUST : 155,45 euro

So should I buy this card or go for an other Nvidia card.
My budget's range isn't really that huge.. so I can't afford a 260GTX or 280GTX

If I go for this XFX 9800GTX+
I might buy another 1 later in a few weeks.. and SLI it..

would that be good?

Hoping to get some good replies from you guys.

Regards,

Daisuke

wow really? o.O

i see ur using a E4400 CPU.. i have around the same speeds as ur CPU..

so everything runs sickly ha? .. GREAT TO HEAR THAT..

how about Crysis & Far Cry 2.. do they run a bit at max with resolution:
1440x900
1650x1050..

do u think it will handle the resolutions..

I don't really like Crysis & far cry 2 game.. they look nice but gameplay sux..
just want to know the cards performance

Well it's not THAT good, but it's still a very good card. MUCH better than an 8600GT. It's not going to max crysis, but it'll run it very well.

EDIT: At 1680x1050 it won't max Crysis. You won't even be able to do all very high and no AA unless you don't mind FPS in the mid-low 20's. Far Cry 2 on the other hand will be able to run on ultra high with possibly some AA.

Far Cry 2.. yes.. Crysis No.. You will still need to put a few settings on medium most likely.

I bet the 9800GTX+ can handle those resolutions. My 9800GTX does so it should. Just remember to speed the fan up.

I don't consider Crysis a game because it's so badly made.

Fine then, it runs everything minus Crysis max settings. Honestly though I haven't even tried Crysis since I got this card. Looked amazing on medium on my 7950GT though.

How is it badly made? It's just super detailed, of course it's going to take a lot of GPU power to run. Just look at the texture quality on Very High settings.

It won't do World in Conflict either if you consider max settings include 16x AA/AF. Oblivion/Fallout 3 won't run that well with a texture mod and/or AA either.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great card, just not that great.

No, it's badly made and a rubbish game. Only thing I do like is the engine, running around with a Korean in your hand is funny.

i think he meant that its all eyecandy and graphics. Crysis is a nice game to look at but gameplay sucks IMO.
