Upgrading graphics card with Bios flash

post #1 of 4
Thread Starter
I've been reading a lot into into the 9600gso and how it can be bios flashed to be an 8800gt/gts. Because my 8800gt is getting kinda lonely, but i've looked and it seems you need a galaxy for the extra ram chips, but I wanted to know if anyone here has done this. I just wanted to talk to someone who has done this and also see if anyone has and info on the gt bios flash.

9800gso->8800gts

Edit: Overlooked title could a mod change it to 9800gso Bios flash upgrade

i beleive only the galaxy 9600gso can do it because it has 8 ram chips just like the 8800gts g92

.. i would just grab a recertified 8800gts from evga for 99$ to save the hassle

thanks for the rep ^_^, but yeah. go to evga.com and try finding the "b stock" section , its where they sell recertified products for very little money. u can find one for 99$. . ur 8800gt is good enough, i wouldnt upgrade . the difference is very little... unless u pllanned on buying one for a new rig?.
