gtx 295 or gtx 260 sli... - Page 2

the question is, is it justifiable (considering he got the gtx 260 for 200$) to spend 350$ on the upgrade.

personally, id just grab another gtx260 and save 150$ .. and use that 150$ to get something else.

Ok well I got the 260 for $250 and if i got a second it will be another $250 so It shouldn't be too much more money. Plus I got a $90 rebate because I bought it with a mobo.

In my book, it's always better to get the best single card you can afford. SLI should really only be for guys who have enough money to buy 2 of the best card, or in situations such as 2xGTX260 vs 1 GTX 280 where the price difference between the two is not as big.

I've seen way too many guys with 8600 SLI who should have just gotten a single 8800GT, or guys with 8800GT SLI who should have just gotten a GTX260.

Just my two cents.

I bet its going to be $50 on the evga site...I heard its going to be $500 somewhere, but maybe i'm wrong. Is it worth $50 more to get the 295 over a 260 then?

I would say yes it is. Some games don't scale that well in SLI + if you do that you leave yourself the room to upgrade more meaningfully later (as opposed to adding a third card in tri SLI).
