GPU or CPU cause lag in game. - Page 2

hearing you got an upgrade if its not too much trouble to what fran OC suggested and fresh install everything with the latest drivers.

check your mobo manual for which pcie slot your primary video card should be in.

then patch and make sure that WoW be up to date, that should solve the problem, any other problems such as lag make sure nothing id going on in the background. no downloading or streaming video. and if that still doesnt solve your problem then its server side

ok motherboard only has 1 PCIe slot and it is x16. however i went into the bios and couldn't see any options to change it from x1 or x16. i guess my msi board doesnt offer that option to me.

i think it is that i need to reinstall windows honestly if going from nvidia to ATI and staying with the current isntall of my OS is making these problems.

I know it may be contrary to what is normally stated her on OCN but I wouldn't jump to a re-install right off the bat... this particular issue you mention doesn't seem to be isolated. As I have had similar with my current rig - and that was moving from an Athlon X2 3800+ with a 7900GS system to this.. and performance is actually slightly south of my previous system...but only in WoW...

For months people have been bugging Blizz's tech support about it to no avail because they claim they cannot recreate the issue; recently though another one of the threads has gained steam on this topic but really not enough steam because Blizz's response is that there isn't a need to run video settings at max....

ok before and after windows re-install vantage scores are in.

before scored - 6945

after scored - 8591

both run on default settings and this is GPU score only. So already saw a good increase.

i heard that in the expansion they upped the gfx and it is now more demanding... people had to turn down their settings. although, i think you should have no problem running it.

Wow, good improvement. I think that your problem was that you had some nvidia stuff making your new ATI card perform as a crappy x1300 hehe.

Tell us when you try WOW.

so over all better. and my computer is running better as well on general use.
