Completely agree, I LOVE that feature. I have all of my games (including the whopping 16Gb GTA4) on DVD's now so that I don't have to redownload everyone when I reformat.

The only time I don't buy from Steam is if the game isn't out on Steam. Otherwise, I ALWAYS get the Steam version.

Incorrect about the first part. I have my games installed on my main PC and backup PC. You can install them on as many computers as you want, but can only be logged in on one computer at a time.

actually theres a big problem for me as my download speed is capped at 100kb/s so it will take too long to download...

Is that Steams' fault or your ISP's fault?

As for downsides someone mentioned it usually isn't the cheapest but is also usually priced about the same.

My main gripe is no re-selling of your purchased games.
Then you haven't tried to play steam games offline much at all.

Exactly what part of "but the only benefit of that is that you can launch the game from STEAM." is any different than what you said??? Read before you try to correct someone.

I honestly prefer Steam, and prefer buying games off it than a CD version of a game (unless the disk is installed like Half-Life 2, where you enter your serial in steam and have it on your account forever.), because of being able to have it installed on multiple machines with out some game bricking on you due to DRM (or something, like what Bioshock has built in.)

Thus, which is why I waited and bought Bioshock on Steam, which I will do the same for when I buy Crysis (when ever I feel like I want to play it...), Spore, and etc.

Heck, you know how Beyond Good and Evil had troubles on 64-bit systems and Vista? Since it came out on Steam, all those issues were totally gone! So it helps out too.

I have a few question about Steam that I have no experience with (because I've bought all my Steam games through Steam):

If you buy a retail version of a game then register it in Steam, can you install it via Steam on other computers (provided it is a game that you could have purchased through Steam) if you wanted?

If the retail version requires the CD or DVD in the drive, and you have it registered on Steam (it's a game that you could buy from Steam), do you still need the DVD in the drive?

If you have ungodly amounts of HD space, can you rip the CD/DVD onto your hard drive and use Daemon Tools to mount it instead of running it off the optical drive? And as a second point to this one, would there be a performance boost from doing so?

All games on Steam don't need a disk to run the game, even games you buy on CD/DVD that is registered with steam (Such as Half-Life 2 for example.) and is on your steam account. Since all the game data is on your harddrive.

When you install steam I recommend putting it on a different partition than your OS because then you will not have to redownload/move/etc your games if you decide you want to format or your OS quits working.
