Logitech Headset and X-fi Fatality Pro

Ok, I just got back from circut city with my first ever USB headset. To find out that creative doesn't support it in USB. (Figured as much as they tend to only support there own products). Not a biggy I thought, I can still use it in anolog mode(its a dual).

Well I plugged it into my soundcard the old fashion way and it worked. The audio test with the helicopter blew me away. But at the same time the Mic was picking up zero audio. I went into the options and clicked 20db boost and maxed out the slider and picked up the sound very softly. Good I thought, maybe I don't need usb.....

I load up Janes USAF thining to myself, finally I can play the game without memorizeing 100+ key commands while trying to fly a realistic plan in a dogfight...Wll I get no response. I screamed "Speed Brake" and "Afterburner 1" so many times and got no response from the game. Also even though the 3d position of sound was amazeing the sound quality is horrible.

So basicly what im asking is there ANY way to get this thing to work with my soundcard/games. Id love USB becuase the sound card is not picking up much sound at all and usb should work find. Also im tired of unpluggin my computer just to swap from my speakers to headset and back again......its in a vey hard to reach place with no light.

I have a Logitech Digital Precision PC Gameing Headset (supposed to be REALLY good) for $52 The creative headset was 42 and I already said to myself never to buy anything creative. It was a miracle to get my speakers to work let alone my music creation software....

My Soundcard is a Xi-Fi Fatality Pro Xtreme Gamer, and my speakers are Altec lansing 5.1 (im looking at getting a Azunetech Prelude if this soundcard dosn't work with any of my hardware.)

This is a common issue, you just need to set the X-Fi console to rec from line-in/microphone. you see the little blue arrows beloe the + under playback? Set it to microphone. Good luck.

or try
Click Start > Programs > Creative > Soundblaster > Restore Defaults.

I personally don't like USB headsets. I use this to switch back and forth from speakers to headset and it works wonders.

Check the SOundcard subforum for info, i'll post the link in a bit. Link

phospholipid started this thread. If you can, I'd return the USB headset. I've gone through 2 of them because I actually lost surround sound capabilities using them with my Prelude.

Thanks Phospholipid, I was trying the REC one and missed the mic

Edit: and thanks for the suggestion for entertainment mode. Audiocreation mode should be similar so that covers all the 3 modes

Thanks for the idea MikersSu, good backup plan if usb fails..

And the reason I would prefer USB is So I can keep my speakers plugged in and use creatives auto mute speakers and switch to headphone option. But I doubt this soundcard can handle it in usb?

Sry, for double post.... I still have no voice recognition in Janes USAF or any other game, Ive tried running the game in Windows 2000 compatibility and standard. Right now I can here everything going on in my room through my mike, its almost like supersonic hearing lol, but when im in the game I get nothing and no response to any commnad. Ive try'ed everything from Speed brake to fire to sort targets to hud color and the game does not respond.

Speech recognition is turned on in the game settings and theres over 100 commands listed, is this game just to old to acept mic input from xp?
