Or if you're spending that much already, just go get the Q9550.

would totally get the Q9400. Better technology, will OC further.
If overclocking, I'd personally go with the Q6700 over the Q9400 for the higher multiplier (Q6700 is 10x, Q9400 is 8x), and the larger L2 Cache - especially if the Q6700 is a lower price.

If you're willing to spring for the Q9550, that may be the better choice. Twice the L2 cache of the Q9400 (and more than the Q6700). It still has a lower multi (8.5x) than the Q6700, but it is 45nm (faster clock for clock), and with the right motherboard you should be able to OC that thing pretty high.

My 2 cents.

Yep with today's exchange rate they're virtually identical to U.S. prices, so (aside from tax) you win.

please explain your confusion a bit more, 'cause I'm not that confused by those prices...

Everything seems reasonable except the q6700--they probably have very few 6700's available, therefore the price will go up. edit--I don't think the 6700's were THAT popular (in comparison to the 6600's) since they both overclocked to about the same point, so why spend more money on the 6700 when the 6600 will do.

Although some will argue the newer Q6600's, in general, can't overclock as high as the older ones... I still would pick it over the Q9300. The Q6600, while "only" 65nm, still has a larger L2 cache and a 9x multiplier. Personally, the 7.5x multi on the Q9300 would annoy the piss out of me where OC'ing is concerned.
