Maybe going watercooling... need some advice

Hey guys, gonna try to see if I can buy a watercooling setup for my sig rig...

I have a general idea of what to get, but there are still some questions which I don't know the answer to...

CPU waterblock
- Probably going with the D-tek Fuzion V2 waterblock or the Swiftech GTZ, or one of the Swiftech blocks... any recommendations between the two?

Radiator
- I probably will not be cooling my GPU for now, so I'm thinking that I only need a dual fan rad. The problem is that I would also like to keep my system quiet, so what radiators would be suitable with lower CFM fans? (I'm not going to be running Ultra kazes or Panaflos on them)

Pump
- I have absolutely no clue how to choose a pump... any suggestions to a pump that is relatively quiet (perhaps variable speed)?

Tubing
- I've heard a lot about Masterkleer or Tygon, but I'm not sure whats best... would 7/16 tubing or 1/2 tubing be better?

Fittings
- This is another part of watercooling in which I am completely stumped with... any advantage in getting more expensive fittings? or are they just to allow for thicker tubing?

Clamps
- Help?

Coolant
- Also need help with what brands to trust...

T-line/Reservoir?
- Is it possible to just have a reservoir, and use that to fill the system? I really don't like the look of a T-line... they look out of place to me

Thanks for any help and suggestions...

Block: I'd suggest the Fuzion v2

Pump: D5 vario

Tubing: Go for some 1/2" or 7/16" Tygon 3603

Fittings: Not really a big deal, with a CPU only loop its really not a concern.

Res/tline: I'd take a look at a Swiftech Microres.

As far as not having a T line, you don't really need one, but it makes draining your loop a pain.

I like worm drive clamps, some people prefer other kinds, zip-ties work as well.

Coolant: 1:10 pentosin G11 and distilled water. then add a couple drops of PT Nuke. Some people also like to add a drop of Dawn dish soap.

Thanks, how about the radiator? Do you have any suggestions?

Working on it

As far as the rad, the fairly thin swiftech ones work well with low CFM fans, the Black Ice GTX rads also work well with lower CFM fans. Should be fine with a dual rad of either.

For the rad grab a Feser 240. They are amazing at low-medium rpm fans. Fittings I'm guessing you mean barbs. There really is no difference although compression fittings look nice and you don't need clamps for it. I would get a GTZ over the V2. Tygon tubing for tight bends but otherwise save yourself some money and get 7/16 masterkleer.

Apogee GTZ and Fuzion V2 both perform very close to each other. Just depends on which one you think looks better.

Radiator
- I probably will not be cooling my GPU for now, so I'm thinking that I only need a dual fan rad. The problem is that I would also like to keep my system quiet, so what radiators would be suitable with lower CFM fans? (I'm not going to be running Ultra kazes or Panaflos on them)

For low CFM fans, the Swiftech MCR series and the Thermochill PA series do great. Black Ice rads are optimized for high speed 120x38mm fans.

Pump
- I have absolutely no clue how to choose a pump... any suggestions to a pump that is relatively quiet (perhaps variable speed)?

D5 Vario

Tubing
- I've heard a lot about Masterkleer or Tygon, but I'm not sure whats best... would 7/16 tubing or 1/2 tubing be better?

7/16" Mastkleer rules

Fittings
- This is another part of watercooling in which I am completely stumped with... any advantage in getting more expensive fittings? or are they just to allow for thicker tubing?

Virtually every component comes with fittings. There is no performance benefit from using better fittings, just aesthetic and ease of use.

Clamps
- Help?

Metal worm drive, zip ties, or plastic clamps.

Coolant
- Also need help with what brands to trust...

Distilled water + PT Nuke

T-line/Reservoir?
- Is it possible to just have a reservoir, and use that to fill the system? I really don't like the look of a T-line... they look out of place to me

Yes. I recommend reservoirs because of how much easier they are to bleed.

Thanks for any help and suggestions...

Take a look at the TFC radiators at PT - they also work with quiet fans. Think about what you might want to cool with this loop in the future, don't just buy enough radiator for your immediate need (although you could always add a second 240 at a later time). The D5T fixed speed is totally silent, so not sure of the value of the variable version. GTZ block is fine. What he said on coolant, if you want color in your loop, get colored pipe.

The D5 vario runs faster than the non-vario version, it is silent from what I can tell except for about the first 5 seconds when you turn it on.
