If you are on a budget, go for an Antec earthwatts psu, If budget allows get a decent psu like pc&p, tagan or corsair.

While not the greatest PSU, "any new Antec" is not a bad suggestion for most people. Even the Basiq is made by FSP with decent parts and even though it is not 80+ certified, it does run @ 80% efficiency. It's only real con I have read is it can get very loud and it is an ugly PSU.
All of the Earthwatts line are made by Delta now, and have had good reviews.
TruPower line is highly rated also.
I have not seen anybody saying an Antec is equal to a PC P&C (but some are). Not everybody needs a $150+/ 800+watt PSU.
The PC P&C linked to above is a good deal right now with the rebate and 20% off ($55 shipped AR). Much cheaper than the EW 500w (I got one for $39.99 shipped on sale a while back though).

Not bad, but certainly not favorable. Jonny Guru didn't think too higly of the Truepower Trio either. He didn't think it was terrible, but it didn't impress. And I've since lost the news link, but Antec's power supply failure rate in '06 or '07 was much higher than quite a few other companies.

I'm not saying that all of Antec's power supplies are bad by any means - hell, I recommend Earthwatts units to dozens of budget builders. I just would definitely avoid recommending "any Antec" and throwing the phrase around in the same way you would with a company with a stronger lineup of power supplies across the board. Especially if you just throw out a wattage and make it to be more important that the actual quality of the power supply. You can get a 430w Truepower Trio unit for the same price as a 500w Basiq on Newegg, and I know which one I'd rather have powering my setup.

I love the 520hx in my sig. The voltage is rock solid and my system doesn't even pull enough power from it to make the fan spin faster than maybe 1000rpm, so its totally silent.
