Best Dual core

Thread Starter
I've been looking around for some good dual cores to replace my dead 9850. And i ran across these:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.1GHz 1MB L2

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz 2MB L2

AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 2.7GHz 3MB L2

am2/am2+ are all DDR2? Am i better going going with the High clock right off the bat? is the 6400+ a good OCr even though its a 90nm or am i better going with the 6000+ since is a 65nm?

Actually, the 7750 seems like a nice chip. Its got a decently high clock speed, 65nm means you can most likely OC it to 3.2 fairly easily, PLUS (IMPORTANT PART) it has 3MB of cache, which even the 6400+ Windsor doesnt have much of by comparison. If you OCed this cpu to 3.2 it would have bumsecks with that 6400+. Well.. you get the idea anyways

The 7750 with a little overclocking (Since it's based off K10, it's a little better than the other athlons clock for clock)

2nd choice would be the 6400+ due to it's bigger amount of cache than the 6000+

I think that the 7750 would match up well with your board, even though any one of the three would be a good choice. It is somewhat early to tell with the 7750, since it just came out.... but I'm curious enough about it that I just ordered one.

Best dual core by far is the new 7750 BE, on an SB750 board it should hit 3.3-3.4GHz, but the kicker is that it is about 20% faster clock for clock than the K8's anyway, besides the fact that it will OC higher, and supports DDR1066.

Let us know how the 7750 goes.... I might be considering one of these sometime soon.

Good luck
