Please Help OC my new E8600 EO stepping

Thread Starter
Ok, had the 8400, 8500, Q6600 and now to what I wanted the E8600 with EO stepping and 10 as the multi. Can anyone help overclock it to 4.5 stable. My temps are fine, 4.2 is fine, but above that I get issues. Dont know if its the board or the many adjustments in bios I have as choices. I would really love to know the max volts and or recommended volts for cpu pll voltage, fsb termination voltage. gtl voltage, cpu voltage of course and any other important settings for this specific board if anyone has first hand knowledge. Right now I have it at 10 times 430. My ram has a 10 to 8 ratio that bothers me. 1.38 cpu core voltage, I have speedstep disabled, and both spectrums disabled. Above 4.3 I fail Prime95 pretty soon in blend tests. Thanks guys really want to get this to 4.5 or higher stable.

1.4v and 10x450. try that

p.s. crank your fan to max!
Thread Starter
Yeah my fan is on max had to hook it up to chasis fan plug on the board because I dont have the manual control any more and if I hook it up to cpu fan plug it only goes default speed. The 1.4 and 10 by 450 fails prime thats my problem. I can take a snap shot of my bios but I used a digital camera.Temps 38 idle, 58 stressed. 10 times 430. I dont know the settings to try to make it stable at 4.5 or higher with these options the GTL, PLL, FSB termination, NB, SB all voltages. and PCIe either 100 or 101? OK IT FAILED with same settings but CPU voltage at 1.4, and 10 times 450. Failed at 8 reps of prime95. Thats my goal 4.5 stable. thanks guys.

HERE ARE PICS- THANKS FOR HELP

Be careful with your voltage, friend. According to Intel's website, the max voltage for the E8600 is 1.3625. You can set it higher than that in BIOS, but watch the actual voltage under load conditions using CPU-Z. You don't want to run your processer for over the max voltage for long, or you could significantly reduce its lifespan.

Also, try lowering your multiplier and raising the FSB even higher to rule out a possible motherboard strapping issue.

Yeah I read everywhere people say its fine to run the 45nm under 1.4-1.45 for 24/7 use so thats what I was shooting for maybe thats too high? Even at 10 times 430 with these settings I woke up today and had BSOD so its not fully stable here either but that was with auto. Now I rased Vcore to 1.38 manually and FSB termination to 1.26 and everything else auto, see what happens.

Ok set your nb to 1.4v, fsb 1.35 but don't go over 1.4v. on the fsb. See what voltage your rams can handle and it to that voltage.

Set your ram to 1:1
cpu gtl = 63
nb gtl = 67
FSB Strap to nb = 400
see if these setting help you a bit. May need to up the nb a bit if you fail prime..
I am using this setting for now on my Maximus x38.

Ok one question, how do I force my ram to 1:1, I have been running into that issue and was told not to worry about the ratio that it didnt make a real difference but I also read that my board does not like odd ram to fsb ratios, if I set my FSB to 430 and my Ram is PC8500 how do I get it to 1:1? OK TRIED THOSE SETTINGS, except I dont have a NB GTL, but a CPU PLL voltage should I adjust that one at all? And if I do FSB STRAP 400, My ram has to go to 11 something like 1148 or way below, and fsb strap 333 doesnt hit close to 1066 either. I put ram on auto and it booted and it passed prime 95 for 10 reps, will go farther and see if it stays stable but FSB strap I dont quite understand and Ram to 1:1 if my fsb is at 430 or higher my goal point 450. Ok got it to 470fsb which puts 1 to 1 ratio but I guess thats running my ram slower then stock speeds. 1.41 cpu voltage, rest of the settings are what u said moved FSB term to 1.4. So got it at 4.46- 9.5 times 470. Temps nice in 30s idle 50s maxed, passed 10 reps of Prime95, so I will run it with OCC see if it survives, is there a way to get ram running at 1066.
