Well that's good! Means when I upgrade to a 4850 very soon, I won't be getting any whining from my computer illiterate sister when I give here my 3870! Yay!

no problems here either, 8.12 gave me gains in all benchmarks and games... great drivers. Anyone having issues installing on the X2 IMO it has nothing to do with the drivers but the person trying to install them.

I had to reinstall Vista twice because of the 8.12s. Every ATI driver has worked flawlessly up till now. I'm not moving from 8.11 until ATI can own up and tell me straight up that they'll have one of their techs come down to my house and reinstall Vista if the 8.12 doesn't install right.

Every month you get a post just like this, and it always ends up being something the person is doing. You might want to try posting your system info and your driver installation order when you set up VIsta, because I just installed a new RAID array with Vista x64, Cat 8.12, and my 4870X2. Never a single hitch....
The issue could also lie in the fact that you have a 3 series card....

No problems for me, even ran the 4850 hot fix, fallout plays like a champ.

Installed these 8.12 drivers on 3 different pc's in our household. The drivers worked without a single issue on a X1950Pro, 2600XT and HD3850.

Well there is more to maintaining a good OS than that. At what point did you install your chipset drivers? All OS hotfixes? Services packs? What other PIDs are running? Do you have any sort of program blocking registry editing (like spybot search and destroy?)
I think what he means is that there are plenty of people without problems, and unless every single person with a 4850X2 has the exact same problem you do, then you can start trying to find out the culprit.
There are plenty people on this forum willing to help if you just ask....

BTW driver sweeper isn't really needed. I only use it if I encounter a problem with a driver install (so I haven't used it in a long time...)

Um no I saw a 20% performance increase in Far Cry 2 and didn't have any problems with the install.

8.12's seem to be working well for me. Fixed a huge shadow flicker problem in WoW. Performance seems right where it should be. No complaints here. 4870x2 BTW.
