do most of you guys just upgrade from previous driver. Or remove the driver and install new one? if so what do you use to completely remove driver?

Upgraded from 8.11 (only driver version on fresh install). I DID NOT use DriverCleaner or Driver Sweeper nor did I touch anything in the registry. I only used the CCC express uninstall.

Never a single hitch....
The issue could also lie in the fact that you have a 3 series card....
Nah, same exact thing happened to me when I tried to install the 8.12's. Except it took three tries of installation before the driver got installed right. It's not something anyone was doing because so many people here on ocn had problems with the 8.12 ccc and drivers installing properly. After I got the driver installed properly, ccc didn't install properly. Lastly, overall performance with the 8.12 driver (I don't remember the actual number--like 8.54 or something like that) went down for me. So I went back to 8.11 and haven't had any problems.

Yeah, it sucks.

I have never EVER had a problem with ATI's driver packages, and I've been with them for the past 5 years of gfx cards. I've always defended them when other people criticized ATI for releasing buggy crappy drivers. Well, I still don't think that they release buggy crappy drivers, I think that perhaps with all the buzz surrounding the release of 8.12 and supporting stream processing, ATI might have rushed the release of the 8.12's. All the problems people are reporting are too similar and too specific to be chocked up to user error or system incompatibilities.

I have had problems with ATi drivers in the past. Sometimes when installing a different version I will see it pass the installation process seemingly OK but on the reboot it will give me some error along the lines of "no ATi graphics adaptor installed". It eventually works so it's not a major deal.

I've had quite a few video cards over the last couple years including an Nvidia SLI setup and an ATI Crossfire setup with minor driver issues all along the way. I just consider it to be "one of those things".

You sir, are a tool.

I'm sorry, but I've always used ATi cards, I've never had a problem with installing drivers, infact, I look forward to new drivers when they come out. With you saying that it's the person's fault for a bad driver install, all I can say is that.

If you could somehow sit behind me and watch me install these drivers, I will show you it is infact not me, it is the driver.

So how about you think before you post next time.
