faulty diamond 4870 512mb gddr5 - Page 2

You didn't get a faulty card, sir. Nothing is guaranteed to overclock past stock settings...ever. You just got the crap end of a stick this time around, but nothing to fret about.

I suppose if Diamond has a nice RMA process (never dealt with them), you could try to get your card replaced.

id still try another PSU before RMA ... that phenom with a 4870 eats alot of power ... and dunno how good BFG psu's are ... altho i know for SURE a corsair 520HX would hold that rig with no problems

My 4850 pushes 100C in games, with fan on auto, and overclocked.

I've never had a problem with it.

Try overclocking using the auto-tune feature in CCC. That automatically ups the voltages a little for you, which could be what you need.

yea i guess it was hot. I turned the fan to 85% fixed and didnt crash yet. Maybe its cause i put this card into my tiny gm5478 gateway desktop and it was little room to breathe? But still is it normal for these cards to get this hot??

Did the card came with the fan fix?? If not, you must flash it with a modified bios to control temperatures. Also you can try to replace the thermal paste...

Rgds.
