Cough, um, last time I checked, distances do not change whatever country you go in, only the preferred measuring standard. So, if your in America, and your on a 100km stretch of land, and you commute back and forth for 5x while a European in Europe drives on a similar 100km stretch of land and drives back and forth 5x, what is the difference? Please tell me

Not to mention, talking about this on OCN is technically against the rules. If selling your account on OCN is against the rules because it is against the STEAM ToS - then that is too.

I think he was saying that the average American has a larger commute than the average European. I dont know whether this is true or not, but I do know quite a few people that drive in excess of 1 hour one way to work/school a day so that's about 100 km a day for 5 days. Me personally I travel about a third of that in a week.

Either way somewhat irrelevant to the subject at hand. Still the fact remains that Steam charges more for games than retailers do, not just in Europe but in America as well, I saved 15 US dollars by buying Left 4 Dead from Target as opposed to Steam, and valve is the one that makes the game. Point being, if the store has it cheaper, buy it at the store, the service is still there, if you dont like Steam, dont use it, they will only have to change there ways if the stop making a profit.

The gamers allege that they have been given a largely unfair pricing scheme with products on the Steam platform, that violates trade laws. The Steam platform serves gamers from around the world with a common platform to purchase games, and coordinates multiplayer gaming and updates. An unhappy consumer base from one of the largest markets in the world could certainly impact on its revenues.
So they can still buy the game in stores, right? Isn't Steam allowed to charge whatever price they want, regardless of exchange rates? What law would this violate?

Where does it say in the Steam ToS that you can't do this? How is it against OCN rules? Surely you aren't implying that I am obtaining the disc images by illegal means? My friend owns all these games and just copies the disc for me of course, and I then use my purchased legal CD key, so no harm no foul

In the UK we pay 15% VAT, the equivalent of sales tax, get over it.

I've taken a read of the rest of this thread.

I see a lot of complaining about the valve prices in the euro zone.

I see a lot of answers, usually in capital letters saying "then don't buy the game". Is this not obvious? I'm sure that people in the euro zone won't buy the game. Especially when the prices on play.com and other sites are so good.

The basic point though of this thread is it being a complaint about the prices valve put to euro zone consumers. It's a basic law of being a consumer, if you don't like the price, then yeah you go somewhere else, but you complain first. You let them know first why your going to their competitor or whatever. (I know valve couldn't care less by the way).

Quite a few posts in answer to the OP seem to be complaining about european people complaining which is just plain silly.... We all want the best value for our money etc.

None law. But it's simply wrong, they are butt hurting themselves.
I hope they charge you more because of false exchange rate.

Have you heard yourself.

Were was you when all of the US guys were complaining about their 'slow internet'

OMG I only have 50mpbs were as Japan has 1Gb.

You all jumped in and complained at that one.......awww poor you, only 50mpbs!?

We genuinely complain about being blatantly scammed and you tell us to get over it.

See were I'm coming from with this?
