Did AMD just release the X2 64? I thought it was the Deneb they just released.

Don't feed Adrienspawn, the argument's he using and the ones that have been used against him have been repeated endlessly over the last 3 weeks. He's trying to get his rep up the quickiest and most efficient way possible.

I'm not sure what you mean by this statement, unless its a bit of trolling. That is the point that many people have bought up in this and other deneb threads - that without competition, ANY company will try to gouge their consumers for a higher price if possible. They have shareholders and investors, of which they are obligated to try and provide the best return as possible. Let alone personal greed by those who would stand to benefit from inside the company.

The point is, i7 at the moment, while a great processor is quite expensive once you take into account the various associated costs such as mobo, ram and whatnot. Many people here at OCN, and probably in the hardware community as a whole, hopes the denebs do well so there is more competition, and presumably as a result, lower prices and increased innovation. Intel currently own the performance crown, and have had dominant market share for quite a while resulting once again in i7's current prices as stated before. I want AMD to release a kick ass processor and do well, I also want Intel to respond and release hopefully a cheaper i7 or bring out the i5's quicker. Because in the end, consumers (and I am one) win.

If you want them to fail, or hope they do for whatever reason, its your choice, each to their own. Why you would, is beyond me.

You AMD bashing i7 guys need to get off your high horse and realize then some people live on BUDGETS and for them it's all about "the best bang for their buck" And also realize that w/o AMD, VIA, Cyrix you'd be paying $1000.00 for that shiney new i7 920

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH HAHAHAHA
.

YOU HAVE A $999 CPU and your crying about price and budget? Contradiction FTL.

2 years ago is history isn't it?

VIA, Cyrix - Really, what processors do they offer that comes close to what Intel/AMD offers in the server, desktop and mobile markets? Last time I checked AMD and Intel are dominating the semiconductor industry @ #2 & #1 respectively.

Thats like saying S3 is the reason we're not paying $1000/GPU for nVidia graphics - When they can't even compete in the area yet they're applying pressure? No, sense not make.

And if it wasn't for Intel, we'd be stuck with slow, power hungry 90 and 65nm parts up until now. YAY Intel and AMD are so complimentary of each other, they should get married(Merge).

Geez...
Hi. 64 bit.

On another note, I'll never understand why people fight over 3DMark scores - in most games what's that, 5-7 FPS difference?
If you have a new gaming (that's built for gaming) rig with a decent VGA all that counts is cost as TestECull mentioned above.

People who buy CPUs just for benchmarking apparently don't really mind if those chips cost 200 or 300 or 1000$ - unless you care about how many times you're gonna fry them.

Folders are something in between - chips are not built around folding@home though.

sweet, will perform nicely in games ^^ Think I'm going to have amd/ati next build, 3dmark isnt my favourite game... couldn't care less how it's 3dmark score is compared to i7. From what I can see the the only thing that the i7 has over the phenom II is HT.

If you want more FPS, a better graphics card is still the way to go. Upgrading the CPU might add 3FPS and cost you 250$, vs spending that money on a new cardor SLI to almost double your framerates. And I'm not sure but it sounds like maybe you think the P2 will beat the Core i7 in games, but don't count on it. If it does it will be negligible, and you'd be missing out in performance on everything else.

But as always wait for consumer tests for about a month after it's first released. Same for the i7 to confirm it was awesome.

AMD is finally getting back at Intel in terms of the CPU itself, but now they'll have to make a competitive platform. The main reason that prompted me to upgrade to i7 is the X58 boards being able to support both CF and SLI to open me up to more GPU choices. If AMD can implement such a feature in their Dragon, I don't doubt that they'll snatch much more customers.

... your talking to me like I dont know anything. I am still using a c2d, so will be making the upgrade to quad on my next build, as long's as the pricing is right the phenom II will be my next chip. Of cause if the pricing is similar to the i7 then I will go for the i7, but from what I can see it's going to be quite abit cheaper then the i7.

Anyway whats with OCN lately everyone seems to just be arguing over post's it's really starting to bug me now, I come here to see what's going on with hardware ect and half the time I express my thought's on the subject to get shot down by someone thinking they know better. Adrienspawn I'm not pointing this at you buddy. I'm just saying in general this has been happening alot lately to me on OCN, and reading post's by others on this forum it seems to be happening alot to others aswell.

it's because people think their dicks will get bigger the more they talk down to others about what they do or dont know. I'll probably go AMD/ATI my next build seeing as how price/performance is what I look for mostly. btw, I see we have the same mobo/cpu, did you have any problems getting to 3.4?
