Could use some new phone advice...

So our contract is up and it's about time to get new phones... I've been using a SE W810 and love it and wouldn't hesitate to get another SE phone (was looking at the w760) but I've also started looking at the Iphone and other smart phones. So we're going to stay with ATT because we get pretty good deals on the monthly plans and accessories. I'm mostly curious about the Iphone's features. One thing I had heard that I didn't like was that the qwerty keyboard doesn't rotate 90 degrees when you turn the phone during a text message and such. Is this true or have they updated this? Also what's the battery life like, coming from my w810 I'm afraid any other phone will have terrible battery life (after 2 years I can still go at least a week between charges).

I've read plenty of reviews but I'd like to hear from people with experience with the phone themselves.

Also any other recommendations in the ATT line?

Thanks for any input!

Iphones are really nice, but the price of one monthly is not. Sprint/Verizon I think are the better carriers atm. I have a Motorola Q9C smartphone that is for Sprint if you ever decide to go that route.

I have looked at Sprint as well and their prices aren't too bad. With ATT I can get the Iphone data plan for $25 a month which I figured isn't too bad. What about does it cost with sprint monthly? also how's sprint's coverage area in your experience?

The iPhone 3G doesnt turn sideways when texting but once jailbroken, Im pretty sure theres a tweak that allows it to be turned landscape to type. With the updated 2.2 firmware the battery life has greatly improved but still isnt the best. I love my iPhone and I would definitely recommend it and recommend that you jailbreak it once you get it to unlock its full potential.

The biggest thing holding me back is the lack of a landscape keyboard. I was just at the store and played around with the vertical keypad and it was miserable to try and text with but everything else about the phone seemed great. What kind of battery life are you getting, and does anyone know if apple plans to add the function of the landscape keyboard with a future update?

I hated not being able to type in landscape too but I got used to it quick, plus I have large fingers haha. I dont have any real data about battery life but for some real life examples, I can listen to music and play games, text on and off from 8:00 am and I still have a sliver of battery left by the time i go to bed at 10/11 pm.
