Restore XP w/o Orig. CD?

Hey guys,
Pretty random question. My father-in-law just got 5 comptuers from auction and they all are Dells. They have their Windows XP keys written on the side of each machine and we want to restore each of the machines.

However, we don't have the login info for any of the machines, and we dont have the restore CDs. I have a few XP disks at home, but don't wanna make the trek if it wont work:

Will ANY Windows XP CD work to reinstall windows, even if I plan on using the serial number from a different package?

yes, you should be just fine. Just use the key on the back of the computers. The worst thing that will happen is that you will have to pick up the phone to activate your copy of windows which should be no problem whatsoever.

You also have to match whichever version of windows (home or pro) with the version on the disk.

Cool.

I know the installations on the computers are Pro, and my disk is Pro.

What I DONT know is if my version is OEM or not.....*me hrms*

Hopefully this wont matter. Otherwise, I will just have to make a call to MS or Dell.

Thanks! +rep
