considering the resolution a DVI can carry out of your computer, I would think the video would indeed be the same. But of course only tv's for the most part use hdmi and computers are dvi.

I hooked up my sig rig with HDMI to DVi. I figured that was the best option I had with my stuff?

DVI = HDMI without audio. Same quality. They're both digital.

I haven't kept track of the most recent hdmi cable revisions, but dvi used to have greater bandwidth than hdmi. Hdmi maxed out at 1080p and dvi carries resolutions as high as 2560x1600.

I don't believe that the HDMI is 1080p only. it's just that no device uses higher resolution (sadly).
They said that VGA only could go to 1600x1200, and that DVI is needed for 1920x1200 and more. well... I use VGA for my 24 right now and there is no difference between it and DVI, and the DVI is used for the PS3 through a HDMI.
