But if they do OC well like everyone seems to be saying, they'll match up well. Still won't touch i7 though, and even the 45nm C2Q are much faster in that benchmark.

If it doesn't meet your expectations, don't buy one.

I'm not. Guess I expect a CPU that's coming out soon to beat, or at least match the clock for clock speeds that a CPU that's been out for nearly 2 years and is on a bigger manufacturing process.

it costs 80 dollars. on newegg, the E8200 costs 160 dollars

here's the review
http://www.guru3d.com/article/amd-at...50-be-review/1

In most of the benchmarks at stock speeds it's just a hair below the E8200, with overclocked at 3.2 beating it, some tests it does lose, but in the gaming tests, they're so close, that it's not worth spending the extra 80 bucks for the E8200. It's a dual core phenom basically, and it kicks ass so much, that I'm wondering if i should get it instead of a deneb
I was actually just looking at that chip earlier this evening... the reviews I saw indicated that it couldn't even reach much beyond 3.5GHz. As compared to the 3.8-4+GHz on the wolfdales. You make the mistake a lot of people make... comparing the OC'd AMD chip to a stock Intel chip... forgetting that... uhhh.. Intels actually OC a bit better than AMD chips on top of being better clock-for-clock performers to begin with! And twice the cache too.. let's not forget about that!

I'm sorry, it may be half the price right now, but it's really not all that close in terms of OC performance, based on what I've seen so far... And I'm sure Intel can play the price game as well as AMD can if they feel a pinch to their bottom line. Then there's that whole "twice the cache and a better overclocker too" thing... That doesn't leave the AMD chip in a very enviable position, IMHO. Sure, they're gonna rack up some sales at half the price, but I doubt they can stay at half the price for long before Intel reacts. In fact, I may very well buy one of the AMD chips myself... it's a good deal... but clipping coupons to save 50 cents off isn't very sexy and it's not very exciting either....

I'm not talking about OC performance at all you know

oh, and it's also a Phenom I platform. I'm sure the Phenom II platform version will run a hell of a lot better.

in terms of the score nothing was done to this system to make it go faster. it is vista installed straight off the cd with no updates, motherboard drivers are off the cd and bios is old. Also ram was left untouched. with a bit of playing around with it I am sure I could get it a lot better.
Oh for sure! So this is the worst of the lot? Expect to see 4.4-4.5 GHz overclocks when they release guys. This chip should even hit 4GHz on an SB750.

If you get a chance Table, get that beta bios etc, get all the windows vista updates, and try and get someone to help you push it past 4GHz!
