Proof that AMD wasn't over hyping the chip when they said it would do 4ghz on air. not only is his only an engineering sample, it was considered a BAD chip. AND it's an earlier stepping. freaking nuts man, great job

Because raising the fsb overclocks the whole system not just the chip which will help in benchmarks. I still wouldn't say it's the only real overclock just overclocking your chip vs. your whole system.

Too OP: Great job these Denebs are going to rock the house I can't wait until they come out.

Gotta love these Q6600 owners implying that the 940 is equivalent to their chips based on 3dmark06 scores (which we ALL know is all-knowing and fail-proof ). I guess the 8800GT is as good as a 4850, too, because 3dmark06 says so.

Great results considering:
- engineering sample
- sb600 board
- vista 64
- guy is new to AMD overclocking

There's no doubt this is going to kick ass, now. As people are saying, getting performance that falls between C2Q and i7 for that price is a killer deal!

(Now, the only question for me is, can I afford to even get this? Stupid car repairs are eating into my spendable cash...)

Once again. Read the thread. AMD chips are different than intels. The 45nm process is different. AMD's can take more voltage, way more.

That adds to the fact that this is a bad chip from the batch in overclocking terms.

Plus he settled at 4GHz @ 1.475 anyways.

Stop comparing Intel voltages to AMD voltages, my goodness people. They're not made the exact same way, obviously. Just as you can't directly compare dual core to quad core specs and voltages, you can't necessarily do that for different brands either.

80-90 degrees C on an ATI 4850 is totally fine, but 80-90 degrees on a different card might not be safe. Why? Because they're not the same!

1.475 for 4ghz is nuts in its own right. it took 1.48v to stabalize my chip at 3.1ghz

I really wish we could get some temp readings from the chip though

Table, are you able to check the temps from your motherboards cpu sensor?
