so they spend more on pieces of paper, rather than something they can use in real life?
i was a big time yu-gi-oh card collector, but i don't think ill ever drop that much green for bragging rights.

He would not just make up some lie like that..

and where is it not performing up to expectations? There aren't even many good indicators yet. 3DMark06 does not dictate how good a cpu is in real-world usage.
The person who gave it to him could not know what he's talking about...

I'm talking about the 3Dmark CPU test...not the whole thing. I was just comparing it to the Q6600, and it's close. Guess what? Intel's 45nm quads are a bit better in real world usage and...wouldn't you know..they're a bit better in that CPU test. Same with i7. Better than 45nm by a good bit, better in the CPU test.

Now unless AMD CPUs don't do well in this test for whatever reason...then that's a whole different story...but the Phenom I's seem to fall right in line in this test as well. Slightly worse than the Q6600 clock for clock.

How could someone that has hold of an AMD Engineering Sample of A Phenom II 940 not know what they are talking about? Do you think that the people at the AMD headquarters just walk out on the street and hand it to any random person?

Guess what? These tests were done on a:

-Motherboard without a proper supporting bios (Which may make it perform like a Phenom I, which is what the board supported with that bios)
-Motherboard with an SB600 chipset
-This cpu is an earlier engineering sample judging by the stepping
-Also its not bad to mention that the ram was in single channel mode for the first 3DMark06 tests (Adverse affect on the cpu scores).
-Phenom II's are faster than C2Q's clock for clock from what the benchmarks state, not only that, but it is where AMD intended to have it.
-If a Phenom I scores around the same, then what would lead you to believe the retail Phenom II's would score the same? I'm sure AMD would not release a proc with zero performance increase. AMD specifically said up to a 20% Increase clock for clock than the Phenom I.

Just because of the results of this one engineering sample, it is not representing all Phenom II cpus, or retail ones for that matter.

I'm just stating what i see. I see something that's not any better than my Q6600 despite being nearly 2 years newer. Say all you want, until i see something that proves otherwise, this is the way I'll feel.

Once again. You are judging the Phenom II/Deneb by an early engineering sample on a 3DMark06 cpu test score...

+ all the other reasons I gave you.

I think it is very ignorant and close-minded to judge this whole situation that way.

What exactly does this thread have to do with your Q6600 anyway?

The OP never said anything about competition between Intel and AMD....And it is an ES Sample to boot.
