My Phenom II 940 benchmarks - Page 29

I'm just stating a fact. If it really was that much BETTER, it would at least score better in this benchmark. OP should run some more benches, and i'll see how i can stack up against those. I'm pretty confident it'll be very close no matter what test is chosen.

And again...on the CPU test...not just 3Dmark as a whole.

Slappa, jason, lets leave the bickering until January. I wouldn't say that he's judging all Deneb's, just this one ES that was stated to be *bad*. All in all, he's still able to get it to 4.0Ghz on a SB600 which is impressive. AMD themselves have said that ACC is very useful when it comes to OC'ing these new Phenoms so lets wait the three more weeks out and see how well some folks on here with the 79-T or a good DFI SB750 board can do. I've seen benchmarks across the internet with the 940 is put up against the 965 and QX9770 and in games, this chip can hold its own from what I've seen so far. If the AM2+ version is any indication, I'm definitely picking up the AM3 model.

The OP never said anything about competition between Intel and AMD....And it is an ES Sample to boot.
So AMD would release a crap ES? I'm pretty sure ES's are for select people/organizations to test out what the retail versions will be like before they're released. Intel's ES's always seem very sought after for their ability to OC very well. So AMD's are different? They're "bad" and clock bad to make debates on forums like this one?

Comparing it to a Q6600 is logical. AMD wants to beat Intel, no? The Q6600 is the mainstream quad of the enemy, and i just took notice that his chip was benching similar scores to mine.

his chip was gotten off some site. For all we know it could be the worst ES AMD made. or, to give you the benefit of the doubt, it could be the best. Thing is, this is not the lastest run of ESs. So this isnt one of the chips AMD has been showing off. Maybe they did something wrong with these ones? Thing is i havent seen any of these early samples shown off.

This does, on the other hand, make me believe that there is a possibility that AMD isn't lying about what this thing can do.

Now you must also remember that he didnt touch the FSB, which would affect the CPU score . So lets see if he can OC with the FSB a little. Im not trying to be a donkey, i'm just going by what ive seen, just like you are.

From the limited information we have from better sources, it looks like the X4 940 approaches, but certainly does not match or surpass, the i7 940. Your Q6600 is old news.

It seems anytime someone starts a thread about AMD anything a Intel fanboy has to chime in with his/her 2 cents... It gets so old having to read though a post with tons of Intel is better BS.

One question though... Is the i7 the first real quad that Intel has made?

Do all the others use 2 die's?

hehe its ok. i understand where your coming from, but honestly there are way too many variables at the moment to just be judging on the cpu score in 3dmark. I think we can all sit back though and agree that AMD is finally starting to go in the right direction again.

Thread Starter
sorry guys I have been really busy with family life. Did not get a chance to run anything today.

I was serious though about lending it out/selling it to someone in the local area to carry on with testing. Shoot me a PM if you are near and can run some tests of your own.

lol, I still have my M:TG cards... like 3500 or so. Haven't touched them in probably 10 years, but a bar I go to on occasion has a couple bar tenders who host weekly M:TG events/tournaments... I've been tempted, but then like I said, my cards are 10 years old, and those are only the newest ones I had at the time... some are 13-14 years old. Doubt I could muster a deck that could compete with the newer beasts in the game.
