DS3R Not POSTing

Thread Starter
So I dropped my computer a few days ago (cat knocked it off the couch) and it wouldn't start up.

After hooking up a speaker, I get a POST beep code of 3 long followed by 12 long.

Anyone have any idea on what that means?

Did you check your manual? It could be sounding off more then one diagnostic if, say, your GPU got smashed and so did a RAM stick.

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...ProductID=2543

The following is a link to the manufacturer website, where you can download a PDF of the manual if you lost the original.

I am waiting for it to DL on my comp, when it is finished I will take a look at it and see what I can find.

Heres the beep codes for award BIOS-
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm

Are you sure its not 3 long just repeating itself.

I reccomend you reseat everything - pull the rig apart and put it together on a cardboard box.

You have a wonderfully detailed manual for this board, but it is very skimpy on the troubleshooting end. The only thing I could find was a very brief description of beeps on page 95 under trouble shooting Q & A. Sound like a bios ROM error? That gives off one long beep followed by 9 similar to what you described.

You could try reseting the CMOS, and make sure no power connectors or cable became loose in the fall.

HRm...didn't read the manual, if it is a ROM error the BIOS chip probably came loose, so give that a firm push too. My bet is something worked loose.

Different ram, checked GPU. no problems there. No boot
The manual had nothing for BIOS beeps, which sucks.

I pulled the sucker apart. Resat the CPU (pulled completely out, checked pins and pads), resat my HR-05 SLI/IFX, resat RAM and GPU, put it all out on my workbench (non conductive wood, with a layer of cardboard. I was Grounded)

It's not just a 3 long repeating, it's 3 long- Pause-Endless)

Yes, it's great except for trouble shooting.
Tried resetting. Pulled battery, jumped jumpers, nothing.
Redid the power, and it's getting power, I know that.

Mmm, the glory of Gigabyte: They solder their bios chips to the board. No sockets to push it in.

I have a feeling that I put a micro cracked on the Northbridge with the HR-05.

I sent out for a RMA number, I'll see what they say.

Thanks for the help guys.
