Yet another TRUE questions thread

Thread Starter
Hey people.

I just replaced my old zalman 9700 with a TRUE and a Scythe SlipStream 110cfm fan.

Good news is my load temps droped about 10c, but when I touch the TRUE, its not hot at all, feels like its just at ambient temp (this is while cpu is at 53c under orthos) Is this normal? Also, i can move (or turn) it around quite easily and the screwes are completly screwed, but it still looks quite loose. Reseat with any special mounting procedure, or are these things like its supposed to be?

Thanks,

tom

Being cool to the touch is completely normal. Mounting with increased pressure should help out a good bit. Put a quarter or a thick washer between CPU contact piece and the mounting bracket (Above the block that heatpipes connect to and below the X-shaped thing the screws go though). That should tighten it down and provide better temps.

Absolutely fine.
Unless your running the true as passive, it will always be cool to touch.
With a fan on it and the way the fins are compacted. This lets you know how awesome the cooler is.

If it were steaming hot, then that would mean it is overwhelmed by the heat of the processor and it would be ineffective.

The penny mod is a great idea if you have not considered it yet.

I recommend using grommets over a washer or anything else that goes under the mounting bracket. The grommets allow a more even mount.

And it mounts the same as usual.

yep, it should be cool to the touch. i shut the fan off on my xigma once, and even though the idle temps were moderate (35c) it was VERY warm to the touch. and it would start scorching if i let it hit load temps
